Josh Brolin Could Come to Dad’s Garage this April!

On April Fool’s Day, Dad’s Garage always makes a lighthearted press move, and today is the day!

However, this year, we’ve decided to do something a little different because the media - and Josh Brolin - might actually be interested. Below is our April Fool’s press release, which is actually a completely serious invitation to Josh Brolin to come to Dad’s Garage to promote his book, From Under the Truck.

DAD’S GARAGE INVITES JOSH BROLIN TO PLAY AROUND WITH IMPROV AT DAD’S GARAGE

Local Atlanta comedy hub offers hot celebrity a place to participate in improv foolishness and promote himself across the metro area.

ATLANTA (APRIL 1, 2025) No, this isn’t an April Fools joke – Dad’s Garage, located in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward, wants to spend the month of April “Brolin in the deep” with celebrity Josh Brolin and publicly announce their interest in hosting the star in an act of shameless self-promotion. But promotion for who, exactly? Brolin, star of No Country for Old Men, The Goonies, and Sicario released a new book, From Under the Truck, in November and Atlanta is lush with local spots that would warrant a book tour, such as A Cappella Books in Inman Park or the Plaza Theatre in Poncey-Highlands, not to mention the sparkling new lobby or the spacious, 205-seat theatre for Josh’s (can we call you Josh?) many fans at Dad’s Garage. Speaking of the most beloved theatre in the southeast, we also have a cute and comfy patio—with a full glow-up in the works—for lounging and imbibing adult beverages. The snacks and bar are stocked with only the very best noshes and libations, such as Tip Top Canned Cocktails,a rotating selection of beers, and speciality items like THC seltzers and non-alcoholic beers. However, we can special order anything on Josh’s rider. Seriously, Taylor Swift once asked for a bowl of pink Starbursts and a kitten. (The latter was not for eating. Don’t sue us, Taylor.)

“We’d pay for his ticket,” said Co-Artistic Director Jon Carr. “I mean, we’d do more than that, but we would definitely pay for his travel expenses."

When asked for a quote, Associate Artistic Director Eve Krueger fanned herself rapidly, fluttered her eyelids, whispered, "What a dreamboat..." and fainted.

Marketing Manager Lily Stancill commented, “Wait, the guy from Milk was in The Goonies?”

Operations Manager Nate Brosy said, “Yes, you stupid idiot! He’s a legend."

To further prove how serious the organization is about this invitation, Dad’s Garage sends the following message to Josh:

First time we saw you, it was teenage love,

Brand was the Goonie that made us a fan.

You even look good in a bejeweled glove—

Sir Joshington Brolin, always the man.

Yes, we love Thanos, the big purple boss.

And Cable too, our metal mutant boo.

We still mourn the loss of Llewelyn Moss,

There’s always room in our country for you.

Now it’s your turn, we went to Arrakis.

We’re so much closer, plus no worms or spice.

We guarantee laughs or you can smack us.

You sexy man, you're our Inherent Vice.

We already read From Under the Truck.

Now come to Dad’s and we’ll finally…meet you.

Do we have your attention, Josh? Let’s cut to the chase: we’re officially inviting you, nay, enticing you, to join us on our stage to participate in the hilarious and beloved improv tradition—the very “gateway drug” in high school that led to your impressive and illustrious career! (We did our research.) You name the day, the time, the format, and we’ll provide the rest!

We could be so good together, Josh. We’ll be waiting by the phone for your call. (Or, more accurately, by the computer for your email.)

VITALS: ANYTIME IN APRIL (WE’RE NOT PICKY, JOSH.)
