When asked where the concept for Date came from, Tim Stoltenberg replied “Silence is uncomfortable. Silence on dates is even more uncomfortable. And yet, some of the most intimate moments we have with our partners are also silent. It’s been really interesting and rewarding to explore that concept with such a talented group.” Another Dad’s Garage collaboration, the cast (Chris Blair, Amber Nash, Katie Rowlett, and Joe Sykes) have written this show themselves (along with some help from co-directors Matt Horgan, Tim Stoltenberg, and long time friend Matt Myers). Most of the script was sprouted from personal dating experiences and further developed into a series of silent sketches (most humorous, some heartbreaking) with a few videos of real-life experiences, and audience participation games distributed throughout for good measure. Whether you’re in a committed relationship or playing the field, Date will definitely give you and your beau something to talk about.
